  I've recently been to The Gables with my family and had a wonderful time... as always! Food is absolutely delicious as well as remarkable service. The updates to the restaurant are coming along, not that it's not beautiful as it is. The garden area is a wonderful place to sit and it seems as though there's always a wedding or some sort of event going on there! Usually valet services are available and we LOVE that so we don't have to think about parking close to someone and can get inside to eat fabulous food! Last couple times we were there it wasn't available but hopefully they'll be back soon to a more regular schedule again! It's COMPLIMENTARY so that's the wonderful news! All in all, my family and I will most certainly be back and continue to tell others to visit!! It's a definite must go! If you love fine dining and amazing food and a great atmosphere, then it's right up your alley!!

  For the longest time, was my favorite Chester Co. restaurant. Did not have the best experience recently, as they SOMEHOW changed their mushroom soup (?!). So sad. It was a Saturday evening, and I do not think there was a wedding upstairs, but the service was quite sluggish. Main course was great, sad about the soup of course, and was pleased about the beer selection. Normally a 5-star experience. last couple of times were 2 stars at best. Ill post the average.

  I enjoy supporting local restaurants and in this area, there is a plethora of amazing options. The Gables is NOT one. The ambiance is lovely and they have nice touches such as complimentary valet and live piano. But service and food, which is what matters the most for a restaurant, is lacking.
  
  Some examples of our disappointing dining experience:
  Our waitress forgot one of the starter salads. Since she did not check on our table at a decent frequency, everyone else in our party had finished their appetizer before we could even tell her about the missing salad. Mistakes happen and we understand that but missed plates occurred again during the main course.
  
  The food was mediocre at best. The grouper wrapped in banana leaf was the biggest let down. Two of us ordered it and had to return it as it was cold, bland, and didn't appear fully cooked. I do appreciate that our waitress was apologetic about the grouper; she quickly took it back and allowed us to replace our orders. Our replacements were just OK.
  
  With all the other wonderful dining options presented in Chester County, I have no desire to return to The Gables and do NOT recommend it.
